AGR is two fraternities in one.

Alpha Gamma Rho isn't like other fraternities. In AGR you'll get the opportunity to experience both a social and a professional fraternity. AGR does what you expect a social fraternity to do:

    • Socialize with other students on campus and people in the community.
    • Sorrority functions.
    • Strong Brotherhood and a group of young men you can live with during your college years.

But AGR is more than just a strictly social fraternities; it is also a professional fraternity.

    • Related career interests.
    • Alumni contacts in the real world

AGR isn't just for "farm boys."
You don't have to study production agriculture to join AGR. While most our our members have an agriculture background, and are pursuing some sort of agricultural degree, we have members studying in fields ranging from Business Management to Political Science.

We know the real reason you're in college.
AGR never loses sight of why you're in college in the first place...to graduate and get a job. And to graduate, you need to do well academically. This is where belonging to a fraternity that is both social and professional helps most. Because everyone in AGR is in the same career field, it's easy to have peer study groups or find someone who has taken the same classes. And with state of the art computers and library, you'll find the good studying atmosphere you need to do your best.

    AGR men are leaders.
Leadership is an important skill you'll learn or develop in Alpha Gamma Rho. Our Brothers recoginize the need to develop leadership skills and take an active part in fraternity and university activities. Fraternity officer positions give you real leadership experience; you will use these skills to get involved in campus clubs, organizations or student government.

We get you ready for the real world.
Because AGR is a professional fraternity, we are concerned with promoting your career development during your college years and after graduation. We offer:

    • Regional career seminars for undergraduates.
    • Internships through alumni contacts.
    • Job networking.
    • Alumni associations with informative ag programming.

It's a tough world out there, but thousands of AGR members worldwide are there to help you succeed. From Secretaries of Agriculture, to top management, to presidents of food companies, to thousands of farmers and ranchers, AGR Alumni are a "who's who" in worldwide agriculture.

    Brotherhood
At AGR there's no pledging. You join as an equal member. We do a careful review of all potential members in advance, so there's no need for a "weeding out" process. We recognize that members can be shaped and helped to grow at college without being brought down. Does this mean that your responsibilities are over after you are initiated? No!!! Your brotherhood will be developed as you learn about the traditions and history of Beta Sigma Chapter right along the side of your older brothers.

    • We have a strict "Zero-Tolerance" to hazing!!
    • At AGR there's no pledging!!

    Diversity Education
At Alpha Gamma Rho, we respect the rights of all people, regardless of their race or creed.

    • As a prospective member, will complete Diversity Education training as a part of your right to membership.

As you grow through AGR, you will be responsible for your actions, ever mindful that the way you act has an impact on others around you.

    Academics
Academics play an important part of our members college career. At AGR we have:

    • High speed DSL in every room!
    • Wireless connectivity!
    • Computer lab with 24 hour access!
    • Fax and copy machine!
    • The advantage of brothers that are taking the same courses and allow for study groups right at the house.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, 70% of students affiliated with Greek organizations completed their degrees as opposed to 51 % of non-Greek students.

    Campus Activities
Consistently each year, more than 70% of leadership positions on campus are filled by Greek members. Greek members usually hold offices in student government, athletic and academic clubs, as well as campus productions. Elected offices within Alpha Gamma Rho also offer opportunities for personal development and growth. One of the strongest points of the Greek system is its nurturing of members to pursue leadership opportunities available on campus. In addition to being members of many campus organizations, both honorary and social, we hold many offices and are active in many events. Some of our activities include:

Interfraternity Council, Collegiate FFA, Student Goverment Association, Block and Bridle, and many, many others

    Intramural Competition and Social Functions
If all of this sounds like a lot of serious work, don't worry. AGR knows how to have a lot of fun, too. Intramurals are a great way to show our AGR competitiveness in a variety of both team and individual sports. From softball and soccer, to flag football and bowling tournaments, intramurals are lots of fun, and they provide a chance for AGRs to have a great time together. Plus, AGR usually has a full calendar of social events each term.

    • Responsible parties!
    • Tailgates!
    • Sorority functions!

These social events let you balance the professional and social aspects of the AGR fraternity experience.

Tarleton State's Campus Recreation facilitates a wide variety of sports for both men and women. Sororities and fraternities are involved in these competitive sports to a high degree including coed competition.

    Community Involvement
AGR members realize they are students of their university and non-university communities. AGR tries to be a good neighbor by doing community service work and completing philanthropic projects which help the community. Brothers take part in several community service projects throughout the year allowing them to work with other people. The chapter dedicates itself to a few major projects throughout the year and encourages members to act on their own. Some of the major community service projects members undertake include: MS Trail Ride, Light-It-Up for MS, TREAT Rodeo, and Tarleton Round-Up.
